I had a text from my car insurance company today that made me feel as though they cared. Most texts I get – if they aren’t from friends or clients – make me feel like a number on a database. But this one from Aviva was different.
It said, and I quote:
Hi, please take care in the cold weather. If you have to drive take a spade, food and a blanket. At home, leave the heating on to avoid burst pipes. If you do need us, call (Home) XXX or (Motor) XXX
Wasn’t that friendly and helpful of them?
Great example of relationship building, eh? Worked with me anyway.
Anyone else got examples of this sort of thing – good and bad? Would love to hear about them.
No I haven’t – I’ll make a point of asking them (a) what happens if I don’t ring them back and (b) although I appreciate being reminded I am not keen on ringing a premium number to confirm. After all, don’t they get enough out of me?
Would love to hear what they say :-)
The only time I get a text message from a business is when my dental appointment is due. They are a bit cheeky (or clever whichever way you look at it) they send me the text reminding me my appointment is on XYZ date and could I please ring and confirm I will be attending. Of course the number you dial to confirm is a premium number which of course they get remunerated on ….. smart I guess.
Thanks Lesley-Anne – your feedback is much appreciated! We should all remember that we are on the receiving end as well as the originators of communications like these – and that sometimes our own experiences can help us decide what’s good, and what’s not so good. Have you told your dentist what you think about their messages?
